Reliable white Columbines

What a cold, wet spring we are having in Southern Oregon, but at least I can always rely on my Columbines to bloom bright and early. They are so pretty and delicate and they come back year after year, even after the hellacious 4 degree weather we had this winter.

It's raining out there again today, and it's a bit cool, so the few flowers I have so far really perk me up. Love the white and how it pops against all the beautiful greens!

The foliage is bright emerald green and all "shamrocky" as the kids call it. They are surprisingly tough perennials.

And somehow, tho I only planted white flowering plants, I've ended up with a few very pretty lavender bloomers. I am so ready for the weather to warm up so my other flowers will bloom, but for now my Columbines are just lovely. Enjoy!

  2. They are lovely. They are large and lush, as flowers seem to grow out your way. I have mixed results with columbine. 'course it gets to 20 below or so here in NH the winter.

  3. Your columbines are lovely...we have truly cold weather in Minnesota but the columbines I planted two years ago seem to be doing well.

  4. Your white columbines are gorgeous! I have never seen all white ones! I have two different shades of pink columbines, and they always make me think of ballerina's tu-tus!

  5. Beautiful plants and beautiful pictures! I live in the city, otherwise I'd have a garden full of flowers that I could snip off and enjoy throughout my home :)

  6. I love all the columbine especially because it is one of the first things to bloom for me. I don't have a white one, but think I'd like to get one. They are so easy to reseed.

Thanks for sharing andwish for sun.

  10. Ann, thanks for your sweet comment about my lonely box. And the flowers are beautiful! It's already very hot here in the South, so our plants are profuse now. Blessings, Gloria

  11. a garden i can only hope to one day be on par with. love how lush it looks.

thanks so much for your comment on my painted planter--my sentiments exactly. i thought it was designer looking, maybe adler-esque, and would cost a pretty penny! glad you thought along those same lines, and thanks for stopping by the cape on the corner!

  19. Ps. I just had to tell you that one of the things I like about your necklace design too, is that I can remove the ribbons if I want to and use a chain in the little round chain links you have--this is fun to change it up a bit!

  20. Oh my goodness, your garden & your gorgeous Columbines are to die for! Actually, I think all your rainy weather there in Southern Oregon helps to make beautiful plants, gardens, and flowers like yours. I'm soooo envious. We have such high temps here, flowers die off around the end of June. I'll gladly send you lots of sunshine and WARM temps from the MS Gulf Coast.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, I'm off to read more of yours. I LOVE your philosophy, "making the best of things". Words we all need to live by. You will inspire me daily, as I, continually need to make the best of things!
    xoxo!
